I thought we would take an Easter break

Post by spidermansmum » Thu Mar 29, 2012 10:47 am

I decided we were taking an Easter break
Actually its me that wanted the break .Dh has stated his new job [praise the lord]but this means he needs to leave well before the boys are awake.Im feeling tired
So I figured I could take a break from regular school and do some easter crafts and activities.Read the easter story .....
I've changed my mind. This morning was awful.By lunchtime I wanted them ALL in a school building- anywhwere . This afternoon I brought out Peter Cotontail into the garden and sat on a garden chair . Stanley snuggled in my lap as I read.. Cheered on by this success I brought out the family time bible. I drew a stable for him to fill with chalks on the patio.
Nathan didnt want to be left out.I read[AT his request ] Scripture sleuth,Journeys in Time and about Quicksilver Bob. HE did his math so he could go on the computer. After that peace [well as peaceful as it gets :)
I know how much my children thrive on routine-just sometimes I forget that .Today was a reminder . The one time I should never take a break is when they are already dealing with changes.I love HOD .It makes school so easy :D

I get that, too! DD5 definitely does better when we stick to our routine. Next week we will be on Easter break because my in laws are coming for a visit and I'm too shy to homeschool (even for an hour) with them here. Well, a break is the plan anyway - we'll see how it goes.

I soooo understand this. My dc are the same way! :D I like our summer break, but halfway through I am always longing for our happy HOD routine again. BTW, I loved thinking of you reading Peter Rabbit by your garden in your garden chair! If there is a more fitting place to read Peter Rabbit, I'm not sure I can imagine it. What a delight! :D I am glad your dh is starting his new job and that that is a praise. :)

In Christ,
Julie

We find the same to be true here too! :D My kiddos thrive with their routine, and I must admit I accomplish more too. :D

Thanks for sharing!

Blessings,
Carrie
