Which Devotionals to Use for Little Hands...

Post by LeAnna » Mon May 05, 2008 2:52 pm

I am sure someone has already asked this, but not sure where... I am slightly confused as to which devotionals to buy. :? The Little Hands brochure that I received in the mail has Playtime Devotions and/or Small Talks About God. The website has Big Thoughts for Little People and/or ABC Bible verses. Help!?! :D
Love my husband of 18 years this year;
Love my 3 teenagers--13, 15, and 16. They keep me young, but hanging on for dear life!
Used HOD in the earliest years with all three of them!

Playtime Devotions and Small Talks About God are currently out of print...so the other 2 are replacements. There's a schedule in the beginning of the guide for these. You may be able to get them used from somewhere like Amazon. (I already had Playtime Devotions...and got Small Talks About God from Amazon.) We love these, but I've seen others say great things about the other 2 devotionals, too. I don't think you can go wrong with any of them. Your little guy will be 3 right? I think Playtime Devotions or Big Thoughts for Little People are aimed at the younger preschool audience.

We have the ABC devotions for my 4.5 year old and I think it would probably be a little too much for a 3 yr old. So I would agree that Playtime or Big Thoughts would be your best bet! :D

LeAnna,

Sorry for the confusion between the brochures and the website! We've been waiting for our huge run of catalogs to be complete, which have all of the accurate product information in them. The catalogs are done printing today, so I'm looking forward to having them in hand too!

You should be getting an updated catalog in the mail (if you've registered for one or have ever purchased anything from us) in the next 2 weeks.

Thanks for your patience and for asking about the confusing items!

Blessings,
Carrie

So, There is a schedule in the front of Little Hands for the REPLACEMENTS and or UPDATES? So I don't need to print them off, is that right?

Is this schedule just a print out or is it bound?

Thanks,
Julie

Julie,

In my guide right after the introduction, there is a single page with the pages to read for My ABC Bible Verses replacing Small Talks About God. The devotional is used once a week/unit. It's identical to this page on the website...http://www.heartofdakota.com/pdf/MyABCB ... tional.pdf

The page for Big Thoughts for Little People isn't in my guide but it's here on the website...http://www.heartofdakota.com/pdf/playtime-LHTH.pdf

I would just pencil in the pages in the devotional boxes in the guide...they're not in there daily, just weekly.

Kathleen, Thank you so much for your quick reply. It really does make the most sense to just pencil it in the weekly box.

Do you feel that the devotional at this age is really beneficial? I haven't seen the ABC book, but I'm wondering about just using a memory verse from the Bible Story book.

Thanks for your input. I'm getting so excited about this curriculum.

Blessings,

Julie,

You could do LHTH without the devotional - no problem. That's the way we started. The Bible is essential, and that's all we started with. You would just not do the devotional box on the day it's there.
