My son was begging me since yesterday evening to start CTC today (we are starting Monday). This morning I decided we could do the kickoff activity and pre-reading activities for DITHOR.

Wow! He did a really good job. We have been watching the Pirates of the Caribbean movies lately, and his map would rival one made by Hollywood for a film.

Ooh! Your son's map is really good! What an exciting kick-off project. My boys loved making treasure maps for our kick-off in the past too. I really enjoyed the burnt edges on your son's map. It looked so old.

Thanks for sharing! We pray you'll enjoy DITHR as much as we do at our house. We just finished our projects for Adventure in DITHR. My 7th grader made a travel brochure about the setting of his adventure book Cabin on Trouble Creek, and my 3rd grader made a Thank-you card for his book character from Toliver's Secret. Both projects turned out well, and my boys loved making them.

Now, we're heading into Realistic Fiction with Swallows and Amazons for my 7th grader and Secret School for my third grader. Happy reading!

It was very hard to pick just one project. I am sure there will be times when several projects are chosen.

We read "Toliver's Secret" years ago, and it still is one of his favorites...his favorite list is really long though, and gets longer each year.

Enjoy "Swallows and Amazons"! We chose the boy interest set for CTC, so we will be reading it later in the year. It has been a book that I have been wanting to get to for a few years now.
