New here! We just started LHFHG and we love it!!

Post by saraliz » Mon Feb 20, 2012 1:21 pm

Hi everyone,

We are new to homeschooling and we absolutely love HOD. My daughter is 4.5 and we are a week into LHFHG. She really enjoys Bible time and likes to draw pictures about each Bible lesson. Her favorite subject is Math (we use Singapore earlybird), which especially warms my heart because it was my least favorite subject and I always struggled with it in school. I see her applying what she learns in everyday activities and it's so encouraging to me because I was more than a little intimidated to homeschool her. She gets bored very easily and it can be difficult to maintain her focus, however the lessons in LHFHG are so targeted, compact and ever-changing that we're usually done within a couple of hours (and she's begging to do more school!) So, needless to say, we love HOD!

However, I do have one silly question. What tune do you use to sing the rhymes that accompany each unit? I have no musical inclination whatsoever, so my daughter was looking at me like I was kinda crazy when I started singing "Just Because of Sin" to my own made-up tune. Lol. Please help!

I'm using LHFHG with my dd too! We love it as well. If there is no tune given, we just find the beat and chant it.

saraliz, I am so excited for you and your daughter that HOD's LHFHG is working out so well for you. We love it here in our house and have used it twice already. It gets even better with every use. My ds just finished it and was very sad when it came to an end.
To answer your question about the tunes, I agree with pp that we just chant the Rhymes in Motion when there is no tune given. :D

saraliz - Welcome to the HOD board! We join you in your enjoyment of LHFHG - we are lovin' it! too :D I only sing the ones that have a tune suggested under the title too. I bust a move and break into a rap for the other ones. Just kidding! I chant those, and my little guy does his best to imitate it! :D

Thanks everybody for your replies! This message board is great! This curriculum is so easy to use and my daughter loves it so much that I've decided we'll definitely be homeschooling our boys as well. Yay!!

Thanks a bunch!
