Handwriting Question
Okay I ordered Handwriting K for LHFHG. I noticed it is just practicing letter formation. My DS will be 6 in May and already knows how to form all his letters correctly. He could use some practice but overall is doing really well. Does the Handwriting A start out copying sentences right away or words first? Just wondering...he spent last year and this current year in PreK. I don't want to push him but I don't want to bore him either. I just want him to progress with his skills. Does anyone know how I can tell what he needs practice with? I thought about maybe having him do have a page on K and then half a page on A. I don't have A so I am not sure this would work. Would love some advice on this. Thank you!

Re: Handwriting Question
Level A does start out with reviewing the letters.
Some of mine have needed that review and others have not. It just depended on how much other writing they had done in addition to just the handwriting practice in the K Book.
You can easily skip the review section and go straight to the verse practicing section. I don't know if you've seen the samples, but they break it down into days. For the first three days they copy some letters and words from a verse, and then on the last day, they write out the entire verse on a "special" border page.
Two of my girls went straight to the verses section (skipping the letter formation review). With my son, he needed the practice, so he did all the book from beginning to end. With my next dd, she could write all her letters, but I had her do each page. But I sat with her to watch the letter formation and if she wrote two or three perfectly (and formed them correctly), I let her move on. So she went through the review pages within just a week or so if I remember correctly. My next dd wrote all.the.time, so she just went straight from the K book to regular copywork, and never did the A book. I forsee my last little guy needing a good bit of practice, so we will play it by ear with him. You can make it work for you. Just skip the review if he can form all the letters correctly and would be bored by this. But it's a fairly painless handwriting book, so if he would benefit from extra practice, it's not drudgery like some books that I have seen that have them write 4 pages of As

Re: Handwriting Question
holdinon gave good advice! I was thinking you could just start with the letters in the "K" book, and do a page a day (it is scheduled every other day in LHFHG, opposite the Do It Carefully/Finding the Answers books). Then, whenever you finish Level K, you could get Level A, and just do a page a day, finishing it out with Beyond. We actually did "A" with Beyond and liked that, as it provided good practice and review. HTH!
