Box Day and a Prayer!

Post by scampbell2003 » Tue Feb 14, 2012 9:47 pm

We received our box for LHFHG and BHFHG today! I am so excited to use HOD with my 2 kiddos in the fall. I am praying God will help me get a clear schedule and vision for how our days should go. I was looking at others schedules on the share your schedule thread. Wow! I am not that organized but I should be. The Lord lead me to HOD so I am trusting Him to help me see it through. I am going to take it one day at a time.

Yep I looked at the schedules. LOL! I am not so gifted in being organized and scheduled. I am praying I improve on this since it has always been a struggle for me. I get behind and get overwhelmed. No fun.

Praying the Lord will help you organize your day! This is a challenge for most of us- even people who are naturally organized! :D

Samantha,

I just wanted to let you know that I was not always such a scheduled person, but actually have grown into it (out of necessity) the older my children have gotten and the more years I've taught. :D So, just take it on faith that you'll grow into finding your own groove that fits your changing family dynamics from year to year.

I've discovered that making a schedule helps ME to know when I need to be where. It also helps me keep in mind who should be doing what. :D To me the routine, or flow, of the day is much more important than being exactly on time. I do put ideal times in my schedule just so I can truly see how full the day is and what is reasonable of me to expect of my children time-wise. However, once the times are in my schedule, I truly follow the routine or order of the day more than the times. :D The times do help me realize though if we have really gotten off track somewhere and are incredibly behind in our day. Then, we readjust, and I jump in and help the kiddos catch up a bit (do a few things more orally, or get out their books for them, put away their books, help them talk through a difficult problem, etc. to get them back on track). :D

Anyway, I share this to help you see that all types of families use HOD, and you have time to grow into a schedule and finding what fits for you! :D

Blessings,
Carrie

Thanks Carrie! You are so thoughtful and gracious to take time for all of us. I thanked God today for you and your family and HOD! I read the schedule thread and loved your post with the times on each box for the day. I am planning on keeping this handy to keep us on track for the day. I really think that has been our problem up to now. We will get sidetracked with a topic or a toddler LOL! But on the not so funny side we had been using a program that was mom time consuming and child busy work. My poor DD was trying her hardest to do all these things but was taking forever. She was distract and playing while she was suppose to be doing her busy work. I have to laugh now because I was so upset she would not just do it. Anyway God helped me realize quickly that busy work is not for homeschool and this was not teaching her anything just torturing her. She really didn't need anymore practice on her handwriting or the lessons we had just did because she got it :D You live and learn and my DD forgives me :D PTL! He lead me to HOD :D
