Poll of sorts - age/"grade level" for LHFHG

Post by my2guys » Fri May 02, 2008 9:01 pm

I know one of the great things about hs'ing is not having to be bound to a grade, but I'm just curious to know at what age or "grade" are YOU using LHFHG with your dc?

Sharon,

We are going to begin LHFHG this fall and my daughter will be about 4 1/2- 5. I guess it would be considered her kindergarten year. I think she will be quite ready for the material in LHFHG then. I can hardly wait to get started and I know my daughter will really enjoy the activities as I have the guide here at home and have been able to take a good look through it.

My twins were 6.5 and my dd was 5 when we started...so it was a K and 1st for us.

I think LIttle Hearts can easily be used as either one, and Beyond could go easily as 1st or 2nd. The emerging readers are some 1st and some 2nd and some 3rd grade level reading so you can do some stretching if you need to. :wink:

It you use Little Hearts for 1st, you will come out "even" with the guides finishing up at 8th grade....if that's important for ya! :D

I will be using it for my 6 year old. If she were my only child, I would move her up to Beyond, but I will be doing BIGGER with my 8yo and I have a 10 month old too, and I just don't want to be burning myself or the kids out. She will also be doing BIGGER alongside her brother, she insists on doing whatever he does, but I thought LHFHG would really be nice to have at HER level for better understanding of the history and God's word. Oftentimes things go completely over her head, but she would never complain because she wants to be like her brother. This will help them both have some needs met. We will be using different math for her (saxon 1) and she is already reading so we will continue on with our Pathway readers.

Hi Sharon!

We will be using LHFHG this fall with my two dd, who will be almost 5, and almost 6. We are very excited, but I think mom is even more!!! :D :D
Love my husband of 18 years this year;
Love my 3 teenagers--13, 15, and 16. They keep me young, but hanging on for dear life! :lol:
Used HOD in the earliest years with all three of them!

I am using it for my dd who turned 6yo just 2 days ago.

So, it's an early 1st gr. for us. I am using most of the recommends for 1st grade, and doing the K level 2a/2b Singapore math.

We're stopping MFW K, and starting this as soon as it comes in, and taking it light over the summer.

We will begin LHFHG in July or August for our twins K year. My SIL introduced me to LHFHG and she is finishing it this year for her son's K year.
