DITHOR for dyslexic??

This is our first year with HOD. I wanted to get our feet wet first before looking into DITHOR. Now I'm ready but ds10 is dyslexic and is currently reading around 2.4 level...and even that is not fluent. We are making progress but it is slooooow. From what I see, the students are to read the books on their own and then do the stuff from the TM. It's getting harder to find things that match his maturity level and reading level. He loves for me to read to him...but there is only so much time in a day. I really don't know how long it will take to get him close to where he is supposed to be. I'm using RS3 with both boys and he does ok with it. I have to read the directions for him to really understand what to do...but he can do it when he puts full effort into it.
So my questions are...
Can we even do it at this point?
Are audiobooks an option?
Would it be too much for him now?

I'm certainly not an expert, but my son has had some trouble with writing and reading. I think you could start your son on DITHOR level 2/3, and even use the 2/3 book pack for reading material. In the beginning, you could write the answers in the workbook for him, then after a while write them on a white board for him to copy, then eventually he can write his own answers. I did this progression with my son and it was very helpful.

I guess it's hard to know whether it's doable for him ... if he could read a few pages to you each day from the 2/3 book pack, I think that would be enough to get him started.

I bet some other ladies who are more experienced than I am will give their opinions too!

I totally agree with Heart_Mom's great advice! I think you could start with Level 2/3, and share the writing in the Student Book. I also think you can share the reading, to help ease him into this. You can read a page, and then he can. This will help you partner with him as he begins DITHOR. You could even go half-speed with DITHOR, just reading half the pages one day, and the next day reading the other half of the pages and doing the DITHOR TG lesson would be a good way to start the first genre. I do think DITHOR will work just fine for your ds, and I think the two of you are going to grow to love it as much as we do! HTH!
