Update on R&S English 3 troubles

Post by John'smom » Thu Feb 02, 2012 7:17 pm

I posted back in December here about my ds' struggles with some of the English. Not that he's perfect now, but things are going much better. I think it's because he's learned more parts of speech and I guess his brain has just had awhile to simmer on it. We're getting close to the dictionary/writing part of it and he's going to love it. He loves to write.

I guess I just wanted to say thanks for the encouragement and also to encourage others, "Don't give up the ship!" as we learned today in our Bigger lesson. I think sometimes as homeschool moms we sometimes drop something too quickly. Just IMHO. Just had to share. :D

Edwena,

Thanks so much for coming back to post an update. I love updates! :D I agree that often as homeschool moms it can be so tempting to make a switch too quickly. (I know I did it more times than I can count with grammar in the past!) :D This is why it is so helpful to read updates from those who have chosen to stay the course and have seen improvement. I needed to hear that myself in my wild grammar switching days with my poor oldest son! :D We've seen the benefits of Rod and Staff now and continue to be amazed with our kiddos' progress the higher up they go. We currently have one in Rod and Staff 7, one in Rod and Staff 5, and one in Rod and Staff 2. :D We've used all levels from English 2 to English 7 now and are more than convinced of its merits. :D

Blessings,
Carrie
