HOD is the PERFECT curriculum for our family!
Hello Everyone!
I never have time to post here, or check the message board very often but I LOVE the fact that it is here and I can go anytime of day to research my questions, get encouragement or just giggle at all the same exact situations I've experienced!! So basically I'm just a "creeper" lol
But today I am inspired to put up a post just to share how much HOD has blessed our family and how awesome our Lord is to show us this curriculum from the start of our homeschooling journey. I am about to start my 3rd year of using HOD, we started my oldest in LHFHG, she just completed BLHFHG and I just got all my books to start Bigger on Saturday! So excited! My 5 year old is slowly doing LHTF using the K options from LHFHG but I'm not overwhelming her with tons of school, just enough for it to be fun and learn the basics I don't like how PS these days are pushing the little ones into so much school so early, just my opinion but now I digress!
My point is HOD is so easy to use, I have 4 young kids so to have open and go curriculum is SO important for me and honestly I love that I don't have to think about it. I know my daughter is getting everything she needs PLUS having a blast while I'm truly enjoying teaching her
My other word of encouragement is that my dh and I have made the decision to move out further from the cities, possibly become "warm weather" folk (we want to travel across the south during the cold MN winters) and for our goals to become a reality it is more financially viable for me to go back to work full time, I've been working since mid-oct and will probably work for a year til oct 2012. My husband's strange schedule allows for our kiddos to be home with him most days and with grandma on the days he needs to work. BUT we have been so happy (ecstatic really) that our homeschooling is right on track with husband and grandma picking up the homeschooling ball! They help me with all the math, reading, writing and basic stuff where I fill in the fun charlotte mason stuff on the weekends and evenings. I'm dreaming of the day when I can be done and back home starting in Oct but for now I am SOO blessed that we can continue with our convictions of homeschooling and keeping our kiddos home and still give them the best quality education even though I'm gone 40 hours a week!
Thank you Carrie and her family for all the hard work and dedication giving us homeschooling families a wonderful curriculum to turn to, awesome shipping service (I'm pretty close to them but ordering on Sat. and getting it by Tues, amazing!) and just a great community of other families using HOD and loving it!
I don't know if this helps anyone else out there but I just had to share!
Blessings,
Heather

Re: HOD is the PERFECT curriculum for our family!
Heather (great name, by the way!)
Your post REALLY encouraged me today--thank you!!!!!
I agree that HOD is amazing, and I'm SO glad God led us to it, too. Although we didn't find it until later in our homeschool years, it's the perfect fit for us for high school!
I also thank you for sharing that you are working full-time AND homeschooling successfully. After being home 14-1/2 years, we have a situation where I also may need to bring in some income in the near future. So, for the past few weeks I've been stressing about maybe having to work (only part-time, thankfully) and try to homeschool. After being home so long, it's a big change for me! (My husband also has a crazy schedule and can be here most of the time I wouldn't be, too.)
We've actually decided to have me go back to school to finish my education in dental assisting (which I was doing before becoming pregnant and being led to homeschool). So, I will be going back to school and then working, too, all in God's perfect timing.
Seeing that you are doing it successfully (and with more work hours and more children), really helps calm my nerves about the whole situation! Thanks for being a blessing!!

What a wonderful testimony for HOD!!! I too believe God led us to HOD and feel it such a blessing. It is wonderful to hear that you are able to work to achieve your goals while still home schooling your little ones. Thank you so much for sharing.

Hi Heather, I was so excited to read your post today! I just received my "Bigger" package in the mail today (ordered Tuesday evening!) and was going through it and marking appropriate pages for easy access...I will be using for my son and daughter...supplementing with extension history as part of out together lesson, reading aloud as they are 10 and 12 but both a bit behind. It may not suit my ds(10) and if that is the case, I can just supplement with my daughter(12). I just love the way it is set up, so easy to understand and it all comes together....can't wait to begin on Monday morning. I am finally excited about homeschooling again! Thank you HOD! Blessings, Belinda

, this pretty much sums me up as well. I don't get to post very often, but love to "creep" when I have a chance and LOVE that we found HOD! Thanks for sharing this -it was so encouraging.

Re: HOD is the PERFECT curriculum for our family!
Heather,
Thanks so much for taking time out of your busy schedule to share with all of us here! It is wonderful that we can come together on the HOD Board and share and encourage one another, each with our own unique situations. My family feels humbled and privileged to be a part of so many other families' lives through HOD. The Lord has placed an awesome, (and sometimes overwhelming) task in front of us, and we are so grateful for the encouragement. We're so glad too to have the board, as a way for us to uplift one another on our HOD homeschool journey!
Thanks again! We pray the Lord may continue to richly bless you on your path.
Blessings,
Carrie

Heather - it is great to hear from you, and I am so glad your family has been blessed by HOD! Mine has too. I also work part-time, and travel to conventions from time to time, and I too have been amazed at my parents' ability to step in and enjoy teaching HOD. It sounds like you are all doing well, and I pray this change in life continues to go smoothly. Your post is such an encouragement!
