What do you do on your 5th day?

Post by christyg » Wed Jan 18, 2012 10:08 am

Hi everyone! I am planning ahead for next school year. We will be starting Preparing (for 3rd grade) with my daughter in July.

My question is....what do you do on your 5th day, since the guide is 4 days? I know that it is our choice, but I am just looking for some ideas.

Thanks so much!

Christy :D

HA! Assuming I have it free from not playing catch-up.....

Always math
Right now, we added Rummy Roots Game, and I plan to make it "game" day.
Dr's appointments & grocery shopping (but I guess you don't mean those :? )
We don't do field trips much AZ is sort of boring for that if you've already been to the places they have.

Thanks so much, ladies for your input! I'm still not sure what we will do on our 5th day, but these are some good ideas to start with. :D I love how our days have been going in HOD. They have definitely spoiled me with having everything planned out!

I am thinking about doing typing, piano (this is already on our schedule for this year), home ec (maybe health, safety, and nutrition added in), some Bible (maybe the next Hymn book after the one that we are using in Bigger now), and a community study. I had also thought about starting a foreign language, but I read on another post that Carrie was thinking about adding that in in another guide. So, if she does that we will wait until then to add that.

Does this sound like too much? I don't know why I am worrying so about what to do on this 5th day. I just want the things that we choose to do to be meaningful, but at the same time, not make for a stressful day each week. We don't even have to keep up with a certain amount of school days here in Texas, but I worry that we need to be doing something on that 5th day.

Thanks!
Christy

Christy, I think those ideas sound like fun! :D Maybe you could start a few at a time, like your very favorites, and then see if you want to add more? That would be a way to keep it relaxing and see how much you want to do that day as the year goes on. :D
