I just ordered LHTH

Post by Kims » Mon Jan 09, 2012 2:34 pm

I had been putting it off then today when working with my 4yo it just hit me to look at it again. I think it will work with him. Workbooks are just fun for him but in a way that he wants to be creative and not do them the way the directions say. I think this will help him to be more active and creative and learn at the same time. I wish I had bought it at the first of the year but we will just work through until we are done then start LHFHG.
I am hoping this lays some foundation for him so he will ease more easily into LHFHG.
I will keep you posted on how it's going. I am even considering having my 16yo daughter teach him and give her a high school credit for it.

That's great, Kim! He sounds ready for it, & I hope you have a great time with it! :)

Great idea about having your high school daughter do it with him, too!

He sounds ready for LHTH - hooray! :D I bet your 16 yo dd would enjoy teaching it as well. My oldest sister had her oldest dd teach her youngest dd LHTH a handful of years ago, and both still have very fond memories of it. It also prepared her little dd for LHFHG very well. Enjoy! :D

Thanks Julie I think I will speak to her about that. She taught the 6yo and 4yo some stuff I had put together for her today while I was at a bible study. She seemed to have fun and they did too.
I just wonder though if I have her do it if I will miss out. I don't want to miss out on this time with him. KWIM He may be my last. (I am 48) I am having some bitter sweet thoughts about that lately. :(

Thanks again though for the encouragement. I was just going to skip LHTH but think he needs it.

I so understand what you are saying about not wanting to miss out on that last little one. I feel the same way with my little Emmett. I decided to do LHTH half-speed with him for that reason, and we loved every moment of it. I did have my oldest 12 yo ds do a box with Emmett now and then, especially if it was a box they'd love doing together for their playtime with each other. The re-enactments of the Bible stories or anything very active in the LHTH plans appealed to Wyatt, and he loved hamming them up and doing them up BIG during their playtime. Maybe you could let your dd choose 2 of her favorite boxes to do with your little one, and she could just check them off in the guide. Then, you could do the remainder of them with him. That's just an idea, but you'll know best! :D

Kim,

I'm excited for you to get LHTH! :D We pray you will enjoy it as much as we did in our three trips through it with our three youngest sons. I was so sad to finish it this last time, so I know what you mean about not wanting to miss out on it. However, it could be a terrific experience to have your older daughter do it with your son too, and it could be a sanity and schedule saver too. Either way would work. :D

Blessings,
Carrie

I hope that you and your little one enjoy LHTH as much as we have in our home. We are on the last round of it and I will be very sad, that we will have to put it on the shelf when my youngest is done. Thanks Carrie for a wonderful Pre-school year 3 times around. :D :P :D It only got better each time we used it :D !!

I'm so glad to hear that you loved it! We are sad to have our last little one finish it. :D Maybe I'll get a chance to do it with my grandbabies some day far away!

Blessings,
Carrie

I finished LHTH for the third time last year too. I have wonderful memories of LHTH with each of my dc, and I AM sad it was my last time through... there's always the chance I'll get to do it sometime with grandchildren someday, right?!? :D

That's great! I've used LHTH 2 times already and this is our third and probably last, so I know what you mean by not wanting to miss it! But I hope you enjoy it as much as we do! :D

We did our first day today. It was quick because I really wanted to wait and start on Monday but he would not wait. As soon as I pulled out the Beyond guide for his brother he wanted to know where his was. :D So we will do what we didn't get done today on Monday with the rest. He does however know the sound A makes. :D
I think he will love it and he actually did the motions with the rhyme. My 6yo would never do them with LHFHG so I just sang them to him and didn't make him.
