Re: UPDATE: Major Health Issues
Hi,
I have been following this thread and just wanted to say that we will pray for you--for strength, peace, healing, and support. My mom has had multiple autoimmune diseases most of her life. Lupus began when she was 12. She is now 62. She has not had an easy road, but we have learned compassion and mercy because of her and been so blessed to see her walk by faith all of these years--on good days and bad. She would say that support from others is very helpful, though she depends much on the Lord, it is helpful to find support online or locally. She has always said that people think she looks good, so they don't believe she is sick and do not understand her choices. It is an encouragement when there are a few people around who have compassion, listen and understand. I will say that I have seen some amazing, faith building, life changing works of God over the years with my mom...most recently she was called a walking miracle by doctors. It is such a blessing to know the Lord is walking with you. I am sorry for your health concerns and pray the Lord bless you, Jen

Thanks so much for posting this about your mom and your perspective of growing up in the midst of it. Really encouraging as I have been concerned for my kids, and know in my heart they will benefit, yet in my head I feel so badly for them.tjneary99 wrote:Hi,

For anyone that is interested, I'll soon be blogging more about living with "invisible illness" and homeschooling in the coming days/weeks. As health and time allows after Christmas. I'd love to see some fellow HODies! http://thomasschooldays.blogspot.com/p/bout-fam.html. You can also follow me there or on facebook, fb of course having more frequent updates since it's so easy to post quick snippets there. https://www.facebook.com/pages/SchoolDa ... 4337624585

Re: UPDATE: Major Health Issues
Tamara, I am so sorry for your illness. It's wonderful that you have gotten a diagnosis now and are able to proceed with treatment. I pray the treatment will help and you will be able to gain strength. It's difficult dealing with illness of any sort, but dealing with something that is long term and invisible to the outside world is on a whole other level.
One wonderful thing is that you are already using HOD and have that experience under your belt. You couldn't be in a better place to continue to homeschool with your illness. I have had some health issues over the last several years and HOD has really helped me stay on schedule with our school work. It is so open and go that it makes it easy to pick it up and do a little whenever you can. As the dc get older, the independence they gain just makes it easier and easier to guide them. Hang in there and keep plugging along. I'll be checking in on your blog from time to time so see how you are doing.
