Hi,
If we use Beyond for 2nd grade and use Bigger's LA box for Cheerful Cursive, R&S, and spelling/dictation, what do we do for handwriting when we get to Bigger in 3rd grade? What do most people do in this case? I know there is some poetry copywork and the dictation. Is there anything else we should be doing? Also, do you start requiring cursive writing with the Bigger work in this case?
Thanks,
Kathy

I'm guessing that some more experienced ladies might give you some advice, but I can tell you what I'm going to do. My 7 year old daughter is doing Bigger at half-speed this year, but we're doing Cheerful Cursive full-speed. I've told her that once she's done Cheerful Cursive that if she does her school writing in cursive, that she won't need to do a cursive workbook any longer. If she feels like she's not ready for that, then I'll buy her another cursive workbook so she can keep on practicing for a little longer. (I think she'll be fine to move right to cursive writing for most of her notebooking, poetry copywork, etc.)
HTH!
Blessings,
Elisabeth

Re: Bigger Handwriting
The PHFHG plans have dc do their copywork for notebooking in cursive, as well as copy their Bible verses in a Common Place Book in cursive. The rest of dc's work is done in print. We are liking this balance. If you did "Cheerful Cursive" with Beyond, I think you could parallel PHFHG's balance of cursive and print by just assigning the copywork in BHFHG for the notebooking to be done in cursive, as well as the copywork of the Bible verse. The rest could be done in print. HTH!
