DITHR and taking the character/Bible further any ideas?

Post by water2wine » Tue Dec 13, 2011 5:13 am

Just really loving the character and Bible connection in DITHR and enjoying discussing things as a group with all my kids. :D We have sort of been using the Bible and character there as a guide for even deeper study. Really getting a lot out of going deeper with what is already so well laid out in DITHR. I was wondering if anyone had taken that a little further on their own and sort of made it a family or group Bible time together. Really wanting to stick with going off of DITHR and following that focus rather than adding something else to it if that makes sense. :D So if you have something to share that is more off the path of what is there not wanting to confuse people so feel free to pm me. Otherwise maybe others have character issues they are working on too and may also see DITHR as an excellent companion to going further on that. :D

Thanks! My kids are really loving DITHR. :D

Hi water2wine! :D :D :D How are you? I don't have any really great ideas here, but I will say that one thing I have decided to do is to "do my answers up big by going deeper in what I share" when it comes to the Godly character traits. For example, when the plans ask for me as a parent to share a time I've shown the trait (i.e. responsibility), I try to tell an important example of this from my past, usually one successful attempt at it, and also one less than successful attempt at it (i.e. showing the opposite trait of irresponsibility). With my oldest ds, my examples are more mature, and may include specific life decisions either I have struggled with, or family members have (tactfully, not sharing anything they wouldn't want me to). Wyatt will often be very willing to share more about his struggles, temptations, or triumphs then. I make sure the other dc are not within listening distance during this. I know this is probably not what you were wanting here, but it's one way I try to use DITHOR's Godly character traits to their utmost.

In Christ,
Julie

Hi Julie!!! :D I am great. :D Those are great ideas. Thank you for that. :D I had been reading the verse in context and looking at referenced verses that connect type thing and putting it in context. We need mega focus so thought I would just get more of a good thing. In fact I am picking my genres by character trait this year. :D I had some ideas on where we could go with our Bible reading this year and they are sort of character linked from the Word so maybe we will just mesh the two and see what God does with that. Thanks!
