Beyond Books - Did they change?

Post by Tracee » Tue Dec 06, 2011 1:46 pm

I was just looking over our books, and comparing them to the Boys Read Aloud list in Beyond, and I have Key to the Treasure for our mystery instead of Who Stole the Wizard of Oz. Do you think the latter is a better read? I also have Heaven's Heroes on our Beyond shelf. Do we even use that book in Beyond? Maybe I put it with our stuff because I wanted to read some of it to the kids. I can't remember.

Thanks,
Tracy

Key to the Treasure was used for Beyond (Storytime - mystery). I believe it's out of print according to another post.

It is a good mystery. My son enjoyed listening to it last year. He kept wanting me to read ahead everyday! :D

I haven't read the Oz book and I don't know about Heaven's Heroes, so I can't help you with that part of your question.

I know the Wizard of Oz one is in the storytime selections now. I suppose as the other person said, it's because the one you have is now out of print. As far as storytime it doesn't matter if you use a different book (I have selected each time from the whole list of options for the genre, though we have tended to stick with the girl interest ones, we haven't for every single one). The instructions in the guide will work for any book of that genre, you just have to figure out how to divide it up in the 20 school days you will be reading it. I would assume the other books you have are also storytime selections so if you know what genre they are and you want to use them again, go for it.
