Is anyone else huffing and puffing?

Post by catbeth » Tue Nov 29, 2011 1:39 pm

I've got 11 days of plans left to complete before Christmas, which will put us exactly halfway through Beyond. It's going to be close, especially because we don't have Tuesdays available.

I finally figured out that in a pinch, we can occasionally do only the left side. That will at least keep us moving in the guide.

Anyone else about to hit the halfway point?

Not huffing and puffing, but we are on track for the first time ever. I need to complete unit 17, which we will, before Christmas break and so far we are good as we'll be off the week of the 19th till after New Year.

So I am a happy camper!

I think we are going to school until the 22nd. But that is just because our school year is ending a bit early... at the end of March. We will have only gotten to Unit 26 or so by then.... but somehow that is all working into the Master Plan! (Hopefully the Master's Plan)

I'm only on unit 9 in Bigger! We have had so many distractions and days that just didn't happen! It's been somewhat of a rough school year for us.

We're doing K with LHFHG and just getting used to homeschooling. I am just on Unit 7, and we'll do that before the end of the year, calling it good after that. Grace and peace, everyone! You're almost there!

We were trying to finish up LHFHG so we could start Beyond after the New Year -- my ds is in his first grade year and I am trying to do the 2 guides over 3 years to get to Bigger for 3rd.
Before Thanksgiving I had the days lined up to finish on time, but since then SO many things have come up I just don't see how we will get there! I'm frustrated and feel guilty that one of the first things to get put off is school....I tell myself, he's a first grader, not that big of a deal. (BAD I know.) Now, we found out yesterday that my in-laws are coming Saturday for a visit  , so there goes this week (trying to get ready and get Christmas gifts prepped) and next week while they are here!
I TOTALLY get the huffing and puffing!!!! You are not alone! lol

My ds will be halfway through Bigger on the 16th of December. After that is Christmas break so 2.5 more weeks. :D My dd(6) started Beyond in Oct. and were taking it slow so she won't be half through, and dd(3) is going through LHTH slowly as well.

I wish I were at the halfway point, but life happens and I am at Unit 9 for CTC wth my youngest and Unit 5 for Rev to Rev with my middle girl...sigh...I do feel they are each making progress, though. This week they have done almost all their work alone, checking in with me for dictations and oral narrations, and to get started with grammar. I'm proud of them for being responsible. They even took some of their books to the park to do some reading in the sunshine :) My Rev to Rev girl says she wants to work through the summer, because she wants to finish this guide  I guess that says a lot, lol.

We're not and won't be half-way by Christmas either. If we're able to keep going as planned, we'll finish up Unit 16 right before Christmas. I wish that we could have made it to Unit 18 by then because that is when Jesus is born in our history study, but we didn't start until after Labor Day so we'll just read about Jesus's birth after Christmas. I guess that is actually kind of nice because we'll get to celebrate twice! :D

We have had many distractions this year, vacation, dh surgery, grandpa visits from Texas, than from The Netherlands, other family from Suriname and a foster daughter who recently moved in! It is a stretch to go from9 year old to all of a sudden having a 15 year old  We are in unit 29 for LHFHG, unit 18 for LHTH and unit 12 for PHFHG. We are just on holiday schedule for PHFHG since we have had so many interruptions. We can't seem to get into a good groove, because of all that has gone on this year. So the Lord gave me peace to just put things on hold for my ds in PHFHG and start back up in the New Year, most likely after our ski trip in February! This will be great since my ds can mature a bit more before going into CTC!
I must say that I feel the peace of God resting on me with this decision and we are moving on with DITHOR, dictation, cursive, math and doing some English worksheets form R&S that I thought we needed, but they are not scheduled for HOD. Ds is also going to read some Abeka world history 5 th grade, science and health 3rd grade!
Sorry for the ramble, I have not been on HOD board for a while!
Succes to all of you ladies who are trying to keep the peace this Christmas season!

I'm feeling pretty good about where we are at right now. I wish we were a few more units ahead, but I'll satisfied with where we are at. We just started Unit 19 today of Bigger. I'm planning on doing school through the 23rd, if all goes as planned.

I would like to finish Bigger by the end of March and jump right into Preparing in the beginning on April.
Have used:
Bigger, Preparing, CTC
Son, 17, with dyslexia, doing MtMM with extensions
Daughter, 14, using Rev to Rev with extensions

Wow, you are all amazing! I just realized we being on unit 9 will be doing Beyond until she's in high school if we don't pick up the pace. I think I'm heading towards year round school with lots of days off in the spring to enjoy the weather.

We didn't start until October, so we're in Unit 9 of LHFHG. We have a long way to go, but we'll school year round anyway. One cool thing I just realized is that our Unit 11 will be Christmas week, and it just so happens to be about the birth of Christ! It turned out to be perfect timing. :D
