HOD and Rod & Staff English in high school...

Post by HappyMama » Sat Nov 26, 2011 9:48 am

Hi,

Does anyone know what Carrie has planned as far as using Rod & Staff English in high school? Does she plan to use levels 9 and 10?

Thanks! :)

The Grammar plan for High School is Rod and Staff 7 and 8. The goal is for students to complete Book 6 by the end of 8th grade. Then take two years for 7 and two years for 8. :D

9&10 are primarily composition which Carrie has covered very well already. The grammar of R&S is quite advanced, and 7&8 are well beyond what most public schools teach in high school(and beyond what I learned even in college at a top notch private university!), especially since they stop teaching grammar rather early! Not that I am comparing or care what ounlic schools teach, but I can assure you the plan Carrie has in place isn't falling behind whatsoever. LA is covered so very well in so many ways in HOD.

Thank you! It's reassuring to know that the LA is very thorough. I always felt like my LA in public school was weak and I just want to make sure my kids have a different experience. :)

So, since Carrie won't be using books 9 and 10 in high school, then I can assume she will be using another writing program?

Great answers! :D We're still pondering high school lit. and comp. and trying a good many things with our oldest son who is a sophomore this year. :D

We will definitely include lit., English, and comp. though in our plans. :D

Blessings,
Carrie
