I got to meet Carrie and Julie!!

Post by Melanie » Fri Apr 25, 2008 7:04 pm

This weekend is the MPE conference in Kansas City and HOD was there! Yea! This was my first stop with list in hand, but getting all my new books was only second to meeting Carrie and Julie!!!! :D

Image

They are every bit as wonderfully sweet in real life as they are here on this board....and just as fun. Julie snagged a total stranger to take our picture! I would have loved to just sit and visit with them the whole time, but they were very busy with many people stopping to check out HOD....Yea!!

I got to see the samples of Preparing.....awesome. 8) And, got my free devotional by Julie!

It was a great conference, but (unlike my last conference) I had my list ready and got almost everything at the HOD booth (I got a few fun extras  ). It was so nice to not be wandering aimlessly through the maze of booths.

Just wanted to share my fun! :D Mel

ps...Candice, my pic is just for you!!!!!

Wow! How fun is that! And how nice to know you had it all taken care of and did not have to search. Thanks for posting. So fun to see you all! 8)

How fun!!! :D I am a bit jealous though. My HS convention is not until the middle of July, and since I am in SoCal I know HOD will not be there. :( Oh well, I am happy for you. :D Thanks for sharing!

Very cool Melanie! Glad it went so well. Our conference is coming up in 2 weeks but HOD won't be there. I'm going to look though to see if anyone carries their stuff (just out of curiosity, as I will order direct from Carrie before we start the next round in the fall).

Melanie, is that really you?!!! I can't believe it! Well, I can see where your kiddos get their good looks from...you are adorable, as is Carrie and Julie!

What fun to meet both Carrie and Julie and to get to look over everything at the booth. Just a tad bit jealous!

So, what were the "fun extras" you got?

Oh How FUN! What a GREAT picture of all three of you! Part of me wants to beg Carrie and Mike to come to the Florida convention next year, but I would have to add the disclaimer that it would only be complete if she brings all of my friends from this board too! :D :D :D

How fun!! My convention isn't until July also and Carrie won't be there. Not that I can blame her. Who would want to come to AZ in July. Its great that you got to meet them and didn't have to experience the deer in the headlights because of all the choices out there.

Candice, you are too kind. I didn't think it was a great pic of me, but Carrie and Julie look great!

They had to have set the booth up themselves....they were there by themselves and looked a little weary But there were people stopping by all the time, so that was good. The booth was very well done, bright and colorful. All the books looked just soooo yummy!

I spent almost all my allotted $$ at the HOD booth! I got, just for fun, the Come Look With Me, Exploring Art with Children book and The Story of The Orchestra with CD. They both look very good. My kiddos love art and music so I was trying to find something interesting to throw in.
My ds latched onto the Buffalo Bill reader and The Bears on Hemlock Mtn. reader. My girls latched onto all the rest! They're wanting to start Beyond before we even finish Little Hearts!

Melanie is exactly right...I loved getting to meet Carrie and Julie in real life, too!! :D I was able to bring home quite a haul from the booth with purchasing Bigger and DITHOR. (I'll still get a little box day when our story time books and ds's DITHOR books come... :D ) I can't wait to start using HOD! I am so thankful that God led me to look into HOD, and that it is exactly what I want to be teaching my children as I have an opportunity to not only teach them academics, but much more importantly lead them to God and train their hearts to love Him above all else!
By the way...I LOVE the part in Preparing where it trains the kids to read the Bible and then respond to it. The rest of it looks great, too, but training them to be in the Word and see how it affects and applies to their lives is exactly the lifetime habit I want to build into my children's lives.

:D Kathleen

PS I'm sooo sorry that I missed you on Friday Melanie!! :( Meeting you, too, would have made my weekend complete.[/b]

That's such fun! We just had our conference and I was sad HOD couldn't be there :( I know there would be MANY people who would love it!

Hey! Perhaps next year I'll get my own HOD booth at the conference and wax lyrical about how awesome it is ;) Whaddaya think, gals!?

I'm just teasing. Although it is something to think about!
