Reminded why I love HOD
Reminded why I love HOD
I was at our homeschooling co-op this week meeting with a group of moms. They were talking about how tired they are of scheduling everything for their kids--like figuring out how many pages to read per day, etc. They were also talking about how nice it would be to actually use the bible for history and other subjects. I don't have these problems with HOD of course. All I have to do is open up the book and go and the Bible is part of history and other subjects. The ironic thing is that I have shared my HOD manuals with them and told them how great it is!!! Anyway--reminded one more time why I love HOD!!!

Re: Reminded why I love HOD
Maybe someday they will get tired of trying to do it themselves and try HOD. It does amaze me that so many pass it this curriculum by and continue to struggle. We are the blessed ones to have found it and use it.

Re: Reminded why I love HOD
I'm with ya gals. I have happily hung up my planning shoes (at least for my dc's schooling ), and instead poured my energy into making every minute I have to teach my dc count. I find because I am not spending my time researching/planning/preparing (which I did all on my own), I now am spending my time teaching (which I do all with my dc). It is a better use of my time as a mom. My dc want ME. They don't want the overly tired, stressed out, always planning person I used to be that just gave them the leftover crumbs of my time. I settle in for my teaching time now with a smile on my face and a cup of coffee in my hand (permanently ). Everything doesn't always go perfectly, but I always end my day feeling good that my dc had me all to themselves - each of them - for at least a portion of their day, and that I got to be the one to teach them. What a blessing - even when the day was maybe crazy busy because other concerns in life creep in homeschooling - STILL - that day was a good one because I'm teaching my dc so many important things - with Christ at the center. I rest easier at night because of a day well spent with my dc with HOD - thanks HOD!

Amen! I totally agree! I am SUPER thankful for HOD! I got to talk about it with another homeschool mom yesterday and she seemed very interested! Hoping she will join the HOD bandwagon as well.

Ann,
I know that I was one of those moms too who was always on the hunt for the latest, greatest thing. With my highschooler, I too am weary with scheduling page numbers and trying to make sure to interweave God's Word throughout my son's year. It is SO important to do so, and I wish I had HOD written in some form for him! My poor test child.
I am so glad to have HOD for my own younger ones too. Thanks for sharing!
Blessings,
Carrie
