I'm new here

Post by MNmomto3 » Wed Sep 21, 2011 2:05 pm

I am going to embark on my journey with HOD in mid-October after we make our move to Minnesota. I will be using Beyond with my 6 year old and Preparing with my 10 year old. I have a 9th grader working on other things, but next year I am hoping to beef up Rev to Rev. :D I am looking forward to learning on this forum and am happy to say that with HOD I think I have finally found "home".

I really think you will LOVE this program. This is my fourth year, and it just keeps getting better. I can't imagine educating my children any other way. It can be a bit of a bumpy start especially if you are coming from a very different type of learning, such as textbook-heavy curricula. Work slowly into the program if this style is new to you and your dc. You will really love HOD.

WOW! You gals really know how to make a girl feel welcome. I am so excited to use HOD with my kiddos. In the past I have used a CM style curriculum and pulled things together on my own. The pending move and (hopeful) sale of our home is what made me desire something that was all planned out for me. When I started looking at HOD, a huge burden felt lifted from my shoulders and I *love* that Carrie has planned in the hands-on and creative things that I leave out! I think finding HOD is the Lord's blessing on me during a VERY stressful time.

Hi Julie,
We are moving from Kansas, to Wisconsin temporarily while we wait for our house to sell, then finally to Minnesota when we find a farm we love. My username is a bit deceiving  I wanted it to be what I will be soon (hopefully) so I'm not a MN mom just yet. This school year is just going to be one wild ride

Welcome Heather :) My hubby grew up in Duluth, MN and Superior, WI. Hey I just wanted to mention if you didn't know, that HOD is coming out with four more high school level programs at a rate of one per year, and the one that follows Rev to Rev will be ready by next fall (usually the book packages are ready by spring, and the new guide is ready for shipment by August). So by next year for your oldest who will be in 10th by then, you can choose to beef up Rev to Rev or use the newest higher level guide that comes out then :) Rev to Rev makes a great program for a 9th grader with the Extension Package and Advanced Science Package added. My 8th grader is using Rev to Rev as written this year and it is plenty challenging for her, but I got her the advanced science kit because she is a whiz at that. My youngest is in CTC as written, but since she is a great reader I am going to add the Extension package soon. I love the flexibility! You will love the independent nature of the upper guides. If my oldest girl weren't a senior in high school, she'd be doing HOD too, not to mention my high school grad son :D Be sure to let us know how it goes as you begin your HOD journey, and feel free to ask questions-everyone does their best to help!

Praying your MN dream farm comes true! I am a MN girl myself and I LOVE it here! We live 7 miles south east on Mille Lacs Lake and it is beautiful. We live on a 200 acre farm that I grew up on- great enviroment for the kids!

Blessings to you and your move and homeschooling journey!!!
