Panicking help please

Post by Kims » Thu Aug 11, 2011 3:35 pm

I know I have a year or so before this is even an issues but I am panicking about doing two guides at different ages at the same time.
Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks

Hi! :D It's totally doable! We're doing two now (LHFHG and Beyond) and there are wonderful ladies on here that are doing 3 or more! :D

Honestly, at the beginning of our year I didn't think I could do two seperate programs (and actually chickened out the first 3 days! ) but I did finally jump in and do it. It took about a week to get our "groove" but things have worked well so far.

I've got about another 2 years before I'll be taking on 3!! guides  . But I feel certain that it too will be fine.

Take it one day at a time girl! I'm doing three guides right now. Yes it takes more time, but it is time well spent. No matter what curriculum you use when you are teaching multiple ages is going to take time.

This! :D
Don't worry. You sort of "grow" into it. Especially with you starting with your kiddos in the young guides. I promise, it will all come together :) .
Even doing two "teacher intensive" guides is do-able. Then, as the kids move up and have a larger work load, they also have gained more independence, so you still have time to spend with the younger ones who need more assistance.

So just enjoy the ride! :D

I am dealing with that right now for the first time. I started 2 days ago with Beyond and Preparing, so not at the easiest levels. I really am jumping right and and figuring out what my dd can do on her own and what ds can do on his own. Right now they can both do math and their reading assignments, but everything else I pretty much have to help them with, at least right away. I too was freaking out but as the days go by, I am feeling much less anxious and actually today just wrote up a schedule for us to start full time next week. I am sure it will need lots of tweaking as the days go on, but at least its a start. You will do fine and the ladies on here are very helpful with suggestions, etc. There is also a thread on just schedules that has been very helpful to me.

You can do it :-) take your time, making a schedule. Also be on the look out for what I call bouncing. If you start to feel like a ping pong ball between the 2 kiddos pull back reassess and change the schedule. Take it nice and easy in the beginning and you will find your stride. :-)

Hi!
I've done 2 guides the last 2 years and it's been just fine. My older does his independent work while I do school with my younger and she's done by lunch and after lunch my son and I finish up with everythibng else. I'll plan the same for this year too!
No worries! :D
