Hi Ladies,

Anyone have a child entering 4th grade this fall?

What package are you going to order?
What math?
Anything extra (just for fun) that you might add like languages, music, etc???

Blessings! :D

I do. My ds (9) will be in 4th grade in the fall. We are in Week 2 of Bigger, so we will continue and then move on to Preparing. He also will be doing CLE math 5, Rod and Staff English 4, DITHOR level 2,3 and Sequential spelling 1. We do logic on Fridays ( we use the Mind Benders CD which we have at home already). He is begging to do chemistry so that he can mix and blow things up. :D I have Real Chemistry 4 kids 1, The Elements, and the book Fizz, Crash and Bang( I think that is the name). Chemistry will be done on Fridays. We have Friday also as ' Messy Art Day', we alternate a composer and an artist study and do cooking also. He will also continue French ( he started this in grade 1)and Spanish(started it this year).

Elmeryl(with ds 12 following a loosely classical mix, ds 9 in Bigger and the ds twins 7,in Beyond starting in August)

hugsathome,

We will have a 4th grader in our home next year. We're completely biased, but I'll answer anyway.

We'll do "Preparing Hearts..." (with the Economy, Science Adder, Basic, and Deluxe Package) and Singapore Math 3B/4A. We'll add the "Lead Me to the Rock" CD as well. We'll also do Rod and Staff 3 and "Drawn into the Heart..." Level 4/5.

On the 5th day of each week, we'll add in any extras that we enjoy (usually art appreciation, music appreciation, addtional poetry, Shakespeare, projects, baking, etc.). :D

Blessings,
Carrie

Well I have three going into fourth this year! Seriously I do. We have a start on Bigger because we started it this year about 3/4 of the way through the year. So we decided rather than actually starting Preparing we will instead do a 4 day work week and continue with Bigger. We're reading some of the extra books Carrie has recommended so we are kind of on the HOD Bigger Plus plan and just stretching it out a bit. The levels for next year we will do Igniting our writing level I along with R&S 3rd grade English and, R&S grade 4 math. We do their reading as well so we will do DITHR about 1/2 genre pace. And we also do Spanish.

So the extra day will be more Bible and science for us. We are reading through the entire OT except Psalms which we will do next year with Preparing and the NT. That's the plan  but it could take three years in reality.

Wow. It all sounds terrific.

Several of you mentioned doing a language. What are you using for teaching Spanish and French??
