A list of what you need

Post by MamaBear23Cubs » Fri Apr 11, 2008 5:34 pm

I just went thru my first 5 weeks of BHFHG and wrote out all material I need. There isn't a list on the site anywheres that list all that you need for the year is there? I just want to be lazy and have a premade sheet if possible.

As far as I know there is no list for it yet. There is only a list for LHFHG. I haven't gotten that far yet so haven't made one up yet. Sorry

Yeah, I was sitting at a kids soccer practice flipping through reading ahead, 99% of things we had at home.

I needed to pick up a deck of cards, and WHAT is a meter stick??? Is that a yardstick?

My guess is its a yardstick since a meter is about 3 feet.

A meter stick is similar to a yardstick but it is one meter long (39 inches). We just use our yardstick and measure things in yards.

Mama23BearCubs,

Our guides are designed for you to be able to open and teach, so most moms do just that! Now if you really love to have everything at the tips of your fingers as you teach, you may want to look ahead the morning of, or the night before, but I wouldn't go through the work of making a list (unless you are a list maker at heart)!

I just wanted to mention this, so that other moms who may read this thread know it isn't necessary to make a supply list. We work really hard when we write our guides to keep it to supplies you hopefully have on hand! 8)

Blessings,
Carrie

My husband travels frequently and we travel with him as often as we can, so having a weekly supply list made up ahead of time is convenient for us. Most of the items often found at home are not as conveniently found in hotel rooms.

I've made up our own version of a weekly supply list, but it has a few extras on it as well and may not be complete for all as we don't do the math or LA in Bigger, but I'd be happy to share a sample of what I've made up for anyone interested.
Take care,
Charlene

I can see how that would be different, Charlene! Sounds like you've got a great system down for that! And I'm sure other moms in that situation would especially appreciate that! I did want to say that I've never made the list and had it all on hand so far (having done all of the guides this far), so for those of you new to HOD, you can be assured that you'll have it mostly at your fingertips, unless you have a unique situation like dear Charlene, and then... give Charlene or Shera a "call"!!! :o

  Thanks there. I actually have gotten 2 or 3 pm's asking for my list so I'm not the only one.

From being an Olive, I like supply lists too! But, from dealing with many, many moms that homeschool I also know there are equally as many moms whose eyes glaze over whenever they see such a list, and just put the guide back down saying, "I could never do this and gather all of those supplies"!

So, whenever the supply list topic comes up, I feel obligated to mention that it isn't necessary unless you love to plan ahead. We actually chose not to put a supply list in our guides for that very reason. And for those moms who love lists, you're so kind to share! :D

Just know whenever I respond to the supply list topic, I'm picturing the moms wringing their hands in our booth at conventions who feel they can't go on because they don't have time to plan ahead, or the ones who email me in tears and need an open-and-go program which this was written to be! :D

Blessings,
Carrie
