Helpful Tip-At Least I Think It Is

Post by blessedmama » Sun Jun 19, 2011 7:57 pm

We are now a four guide family and I needed to organize a way to remember what books went with which guide and in which box it went to within each guide. So...

I took return labels and typed the name of the guide (ex: Preparing Hearts for His Glory) and what box it went with (ex: Reading about History) and then put the label on the bottom left of the book. If it was a DITHOR book I put "DITHOR" on top of the label and on the bottom I put the grade level and genre.

I feel so much better about this. In the past I just put the books on a certain shelf for a certain guide, which worked o.k. but... :? I still have the shelf but now with the labels so when the books don't get put away right away I don't have to sift through the guides to remember which guide etc. it went with.

Just thought I would share

Sounds like a wonderful system. Thanks for sharing. I label mine a little different as we get more guides in the house a more thorough labeling makes a lot of sense. :D

Such a great idea - thanks for sharing! :D We used white address labels and put a heart on them. We wrote the guide's initials too, and put "Storytime" or "DITHOR" along with a level. I agree - once you get all of those great books that accompany four or more HOD guides, it's organization time. I'm so glad you shared this, as it's bound to be helpful to other HOD moms!!! :D

That is a really great tip. I will be using 4 different guides this fall. So, I need to do something like that too.

I love this idea! We have been using color coded stickers (like garage sale pricing stickers) for each group of books according to the guide they are in. But we are running out of colors!! :D . And I like the idea of more detailed info on the stickers. I feel a weekend project coming up

Hello Ladies,
I have a couple of pictures but I can't load them because they are too big. Can anyone tell me how to make a picture smaller so that it can be attached?
Thanks!

I use the color coding system. I only have one still homeschooling, so I don't need anything too fancy. However, as I pick up books I want to know what guide they go with. Sticking a color on the binding as been a big help.
