Thank-you, Ladies! We'll be doing LHfHG & LHtH

I appreciate all the help I received in my planning thread and especially the time Julie and Carrie took to respond to my specific concerns for my little ones.

I am so happy to be able to announce that thanks to DH's mercy towards me (having already spent the year's homeschool budget) and some wonderful providences I will be able to do both LHtH and LHfHG this year - with devotionals and music too! I had to go with some older editions and/or scheduled books based on what I had available and not buy anything I already had a digital copy of but under the circumstances (and especially since I will have the chance to buy newer/real books next go round) I'm just so thankful that we'll get to do both guides in full. :D :D We will be continuing with our own phonics and math but beyond that I'm following the guides as written (I note that because I feel both nervous and liberated to be leaving off the inclination to add and tweak which is how I get burned out quickly and never finish anything).

Is anyone starting one of these guides in July or August? I don't think I can wait until September and it would be neat to have someone to work alongside. I'm a little nervous because I have a poor track record when it comes to enduring a routine beyond 2 months which is obviously something I have to work through and this is the year to do it.

Yay!! God is so good! And kudos to your merciful husband. :)

We recently started LHTH, and we are taking this week and next week off from school in general, so we'll be hitting unit 3 July 11 when we start back. So we'll be journeying along in LHTH with you. :)

So glad your dh approved your plan and you have his blessing for it.

I pray that the Lord will teach you how to persist beyond the 2 months. HOD is such a wonderful program, the board is such an amazingly helpful tool with it. :D
By the way you will not want to stop and if you do, your kiddo's will not let you  , please let us know so we can continually lift you up. :) I am looking forward to a great testimony from you here on the board! :D :D If it was not for the Lord pointing me to HOD, I have no idea how I would have persisted for the last couple of years in homeschooling!

I am picking back up in about 4 weeks with LHFHG in unit 18, staying on a 4 x/ week schedule. We did the k-options for Reading, writing and fine motor and Singapore math last year. In the fall we are just picking up where we left off with all the other subjects (l side) and starting with 1st grade on the 3 R's, adding 1st grade spelling list from Beyond and also using the Beyond guide for our hands-on math activities that are one of the main reasons why Singapore math has worked so well for us. :D Ds has been very sad that we don't read all his other books and has asked a couple of times when we are going to read his bible and his story time book. :P :P :P

I will also start LHTH on a 4 times a week schedule in August with my dd who is 4. She is very excited and can't wait. :D

May the grace of God will be with you and success! :D :D

Yay, mater! God always provides, and it's great to have another thing to praise Him for! I am doing LHTH with math, phonics, and writing for K. We're on Unit 6 so we'll be on this journey with you! Looking forward to a great homeschool year!

I, too, have trouble sticking to something, so let us grow together in that area. :)

Thank-you for the support and encouragement, ladies. And for the prayers!

I'll be looking for that great testimony from me on the board, too.

I'm starting Beyond in 2 weeks. I think I just need to get a jump on it while the weather is hot, and we don't have all the weekly stuff that will start in August. Last year I started at the beginning of August and it was so helpful to get into a good routine before all of the other activities started. We're not in a LOT of weekly activities, just a couple of things at church, but even that can seem really hard to balance sometimes.

I get burned out and quit sometimes. I've definitely had unexpected weeks off. LHFHG was the year I finally was able to get back into it after unexpected delays and stopping a couple of times. It was great to finish it. I hope it works out well for you too!
