questions about the 4 year cycle that is coming

Post by annegirl1919 » Mon Apr 07, 2008 9:27 pm

this may be a question that only carrie will have the answer for, but since she (you) :) read this forum, i'll start here so there are lots of people who may know.

it looks to me like 'preparing' is more literature based or rich than the earlier programs-such as more read alouds for the history part. i like the looks of that a lot. i'm wondering if the 4 year history cycle will be like that, or more like the earlier years with more 'history spines' or history books.

thanks to anyone who knows!

The following link kind of goes over what is expected in the 4-year cycle:

I know this doesn't really address your question about the literature used, but I thought you might want to read this if you hadn't seen it yet. I'm sure Carrie will be along to fully answer your question. :)

annegirl,

As kiddos get older, the amount of material covered definitely grows, hence the additional literature as scheduled in "Preparing...". So, we will continue with that level of study in additional guides. Once the kiddos can read their own books, it is also easier to schedule more readings, which is why the there are additional book packages scheduled in "Preparing...". :D

In our future guides, the literature read-alouds may or may not all match the history. We are still deciding on that. The students will definitely have their scheduled readings as well. I do have a plan in mind, but it often changes as I write, so I can't tell you for sure right now.

You can be sure that the literature scheduled in our future guides will be of excellent quality, be carefully selected with purpose, and will use living books. I wish I could give you a clearer answer, but that's the best I can do at this point! :)

Blessings,
Carrie
