A first book in American History - version question

Post by KellyB » Sun May 01, 2011 9:35 am

Hi All

This probably sounds really cheap, but can one use a different version of Eggleston's book? I found it online for my Nook for free through Barnes and Nobel. The issue is its an older version - like 1889 (or the other says prior 1923)

Not sure if there is a huge difference between this version, the version HOD recommends or the new version offered at Amazon...

Input is appreciated

Here is a link that is in the introduction of Bigger telling where you can find the version of Eggleston's book online. You could compare the two versions and see how they compare.

A First Book in American History by Edward Eggleston (Lost Classic Book
Company, 1996) Note: This text is available in hardcover or it’s printable
online at http://www.franciacenter.net/html/firsthistory.html

I couldn't get that link to work, but in looking at the description of the book on HOD's website, I found this link also: http://digital.library.pitt.edu/cgi-bin ... 00ABY5325m Hopefully you can compare the two. I'm thinking they are probably pretty close to the same. :D

I downloaded that one for Nook for PC. I was told that the digital book doesn't quite match up with the hardcopy. There are some mistakes. I can't tell you where, since I haven't read either. :D
