Getting Ready to Order! Have a Few ??

Hi ladies,
I'm getting ready to order in just a few days! Eeek! I am so excited (of course it will still take a couple of months to make it all the way over here, but still)!
My questions for you:
1. My oldest two are going to be doing CTC (4th and 5th grade), and I am wondering if there are books in the actual curriculum that are consumable and if I should order two of them? I'm thinking I need two Student Notebooking Pages, yes? What about A Child's Geography and Draw and Write Through History? Obviously, I know that they each need their own math, R &S, DITHOR and books, etc, but was just wondering about the core curriculum.

2. I saw on one of the threads (sorry, can't remember now), that the mom bought two guides, for each child to have their own. Is this a good idea? Should I think about doing that as well?

Definitely 2 of the student notebooking pages. But that and the math workbook are the only books that are written in. The others would all be non-consumable.

I can see how having 2 of the guides for students at this level might really come in handy. But, if cost were a real issue, I'm sure you could juggle it without. I'm wondering if your kids have anything else besides CTC that will be a normal part of their routine. (Like we have piano and violin that we practice and chores.) There will be 2 boxes that you do with them - the storytime and either geography or Genesis Bible study. Then they will have Reading About History, History Project, Independent History, Bible Quiet Time, Poetry, and Science that they will really need to have the guide in hand to read the directions for. Math, DITHOR, and English or Write With the Best could easily be assigned and done without guide in hand as there aren't directions written in it for those besides which lesson to complete. In typing this out, it does look like there is more time needed for the Independent boxes WITH the guide than without (unless you have other things for them that you're scheduling regularly). I think I'd personally go for 2 guides if I thought I could swing it just for a smoother schedule ALL year! Peace & lack of arguing would be worth it!

Draw and Write will be used to follow directions as they draw in the student notebook pages, so it's not consumable. The geography book is one you read out of. Then, it comes will a CDrom to print maps and the "travel log" sheets.

We have been VERY blessed by CTC this year! Enjoy your year! I have absolutely loved how much we have learned about God through His Word (as well as early history). I have learned a lot...and I graduated from a 4 year Bible college! What a wonderful foundation and time invested in eternity. We're storing up treasures in heaven.
