Seeing the next guide is serving as a motivator

Post by LynnH » Tue Apr 05, 2011 7:09 am

I was able to buy RTR at the convention this weekend. My ds spent time looking over all the projects for next year and boy is he excited. This morning he was getting ready to do his project for history and it requires making dough. In the past he has needed my help with this due to his Cerebral Palsy and his shaking hands. He just doesn't have much confidence that he can do it. Well today he says "Mom I am going to do this all by myself, next year there are a lot of projects that require cooking, so I better start practicing." He then gathered everything up and did it completely by himself. I was so proud of him. For him this is a big deal.

It is also serving as a motivator for me. This time of year I start to get a little tired and worn out. I started reading Peril and Peace that he will read next year and all I can say is Wow! I love that he is going to learn about Church history. This book is written in such a way that I know he will love it. I am going to have my dh read it this summer also because neither one of us has ever learned about the history of the church. Just this little glimpse of next year has me energized again. I just love everything about HOD.

Love it!!! It just shows how much character your ds has. :D

I've been looking through the Bigger manual since we got it last week and it too is a definite step up from Beyond. I'm very excited too!!!

What an encouraging post!! We are beginning Bigger on Monday (praise the LORD we're FINALLY ready to begin :D ) and I have thoroughly enjoyed looking ahead at Preparing (I have the manual) to see where we're headed. God has given me so much peace and confirmation that HOD is the right choice for us in this season.

Press on Mama!! :D It is so rewarding to be able to begin something NEW isn't it?!

That is so neat that it motivated your ds so much. I always get excited looking at my next guide in line too! :D

We won't have opportunity to see RTR at our convention, but just looking at the (old :( ) catalog, my ds is excited! What has especially motivated him as we finish out this year is that we had a couple of friends come to look at what we are doing as they plan for next year. Having someone from the "outside" look at his notebook and projects, and to be enthusiastic about it has given him an extra spring in his step!

Lynn,

How exciting! :D I must admit that my second son in line has learned to cook and bake almost completely through the HOD guides. :D It is a big motivator at our house too! I love the fact that my boys are able to follow a recipe and make something our whole family can enjoy! Plus, they learn history as they go.

Thanks for sharing! :D We pray RTR may be a blessing to your family. :D We enjoyed reading Peril and Peace here too. My hubby read it first, and said, "You've got to put this in your guides!" :D

Blessings,
Carrie
