If I were to use a different devotion with Little Hearts than the one listed, would that conflict with the guide? Would we be missing out on a lot if we used a devotion other than the Kenneth Taylor one?
Thanks!
Devotion Choices
So far, the devotional listed in the guide matches up the Bible story with a devotional about that Bible story. Like yesterday's devotion for us was about the fall of Adam and Eve. They paraphrased the Bible story then they gave a cute story that helped my daughter further understand the Bible story. The little story went something like this: (This is just my paraphrasing)
A man gave another man whom he didn't like a bouquet of flowers with a snake hidden in the middle. On the outside the flowers looked nice but as the guy bent down to smell them, he was bit by the snake that was hiding in the flowers. Sin is like those flowers, it looks nice on the outside, but it harmful.
There may be other books out there that do something like this, but I like that I didn't have to do any of the searching and matching up. My theory is that I could piece together a curriculum to do the same basic thing as HOD, but if I decided to go that route, I probably wouldn't have bought a HOD guide either. That's the beauty of HOD, it's the basic idea I would have chosen for my kids without all the leg work for me.

I also think you could add your own. She has the main idea there and Bible connected to it even when she uses the devotional. She does link it in really well and we are enjoying it quite a bit. But having said that I have other things I link in as they fit in addition just because I have them and like to spend extra time on the Bible area. That works great for us as well. I do enjoy the way she has it linked though.
But either way the guide will work for you.

All your children shall be taught by the LORD, and great shall be the peace of your children. Isaiah 54:13

Terri,
As always with any HOD guide, you can substitute in the things that you desire most for your family. And if money is very tight, we have the Enconomy Package designed to show you which things are MUST HAVE's!
That being said, the devotional in "Little Hearts..." does match the topic exactly every week. And... In all of our devotional searching, I have never found one as good as Kenneth Taylor's. Good devotionals are very hard to find. While it isn't flashy, it does a solid job of covering questions kiddos have in a very interesting, Biblical manner.
Ken Taylor is my all-time favorite author of children's Bibles and devotionals. He was resposible for writing the Living Bible translation! So, the man knows his Bible!
Blessings,
Carrie
