forgive me if this has been discussed (or i am just gooberish)
on the site, it's not clear (to me at least, like i said, GOOBER) what i absolutely NEED to get with each package
i'm wanting to get Little Hearts and Beyond Little Hearts and Heart of Reading
I definately want The Reading Lesson
so, with that in mind what are the bare bones essentials i need?
thanks for any help

Your list looks great! I'm just going to explain a few things that might make ordering a little clearer for you (and everyone else reading this thread).
For any of our programs the minimum items needed are those in the Economy Package. So, for "Little Hearts..." you would also need the "Storytime Set" in addition to what you have listed. You can then pick and choose those needed items from the Basic Package to best suit your needs. Here's the link to the "Little Hearts..." package on our website:
http://www.heartofdakota.com/little-hearts-packages.php
For "Beyond..." you would also need the Economy Package. You do have all of the items listed that you would need from that package. Again, you can choose the items from the Basic Package that would suit your family best to fill in the rest. Here's the link to the "Beyond..." packages on our website:
http://www.heartofdakota.com/byd-little ... ckages.php
Lastly, "Drawn into the Heart of Reading" is actually our literature program for grades 2 on up. It's for use with independent readers who have already finished phonics and are no longer an emerging reader. So, from your list it looks like you'd be doing phonics first using "The Reading Lesson", then moving into the Emerging Readers set after finishing phonics, and after the Emerging Reader Set, you could move into "Drawn into the Heart of Reading".
If that's clear as mud, just drop another post, and we'll help you sort through it!
Blessings,
Carrie

Carrie, one other question if i may
Kendra had linked me to a thread on combining/using two books, it was very helpful
my older one (eight) isn't really reading yet, just starting...the 5 year old is just getting the alphabet down
from the Placement thingie on the site, it's a good fit to use both books and seperate them. I think that's been my frustration, trying to keep them combined
can you walk me through a day with two programs? or anyone else that is currently using two? just a basic, i know we have to work it out for our family, but i appreciate any suggestions/experiance

I don't know how to link to a thread , but look down the page on the main board to a thread titled "Scheduling Tips: share how your day is set up". There are several ladies on here doing different HOD programs at the same time...my3sons comes to mind and I'm sure there are others...

Barbara,
I, or couse, suggest the devotions because I chose them, and I love them! I think they are a great discussion starter and a quick way to talk about your faith with your kiddos. Seriously though, we looked at so many devotionals prior to choosing the ones in our programs. We found very few that met our expectations like these do! Some of the other ladies, who are less biased, can tell you what they think of the devotions if they get a chance when they pop in.
As far as scheduling goes, here's an interesting previous thread where my3sons talked about some options on using 2 programs:

Here's a previous post on scheduling. Pay special attention to Joyful Jean's post and my3sons's posts. They both talk about using 2 of our programs at once
http://www.heartofdakota.com/board/view ... sc&start=0
Another previous thread about whether or not to combine can be found here:
http://www.heartofdakota.com/board/viewtopic.php?t=103
If you post more specifics about the ages and needs of your kiddos, the wonderful ladies on this board will give you more specific advice for your particular situation.
Hope this helps!
Blessings,
Carrie
