Worksheets for R&S...A Hit!!

Post by tnahid » Sat Mar 05, 2011 10:21 am

My oldest son, who doesn't like to write on his paper too much had NO PROBLEM with me giving him a worksheet to do for R & S!!! He really liked it! :D And he is really enjoying me allowing him to use the dry erase board to write his book assignment portion. It is AMAZING what little changes can perk our children right up! And they are still learning just as much, if not more than when we try to force them to do it a TRADITIONAL way! Isn't that just like our Lord as well? When we get stuck in TRADITIONS, we lose our joy of learning more of Him. We get stuck in thinking, "It's just got to be this way. This is the way we have always done it. This is the way that I learned it, so it must be the only way!" NOT! When we step out of the box with our Father in Heaven, He just pours out blessing after blessing upon us!

Just wanted to share that. It was in my spirit today! Pray that all have a blessed day!

No, not instead. We do some of the book exercises orally, then he writes some on the board independently after we're done. If there is an accompanying worksheet, then I give him that also. I think he needs the extra practice that the worksheet provides.

We sorta do ;) We do the lesson and some exercises orally, do some on paper or white board together with me writing, then I have her do a couple written from each section of exercises in the text independently...UNLESS there is a worksheet. Then she does that instead. Not every lesson has a worksheet. If she happens to need to cement a more-difficult-for-her-concept, then I'll have her do the written work from the text, and then the next day or later in the day, give her the worksheet to do in addition to the text. That's a rare need though, since R&S explains things so well and provides the fantastic oral review.
