Can't wait

Post by blessedmomof4 » Tue Mar 01, 2011 4:37 pm

We are finishing up Bigger due to unique circumstances...So I had originally planned to wait till the fall for CTC, but I can see that the girls, especially Keri, need so much more. It is very tiring to "tweak" Bigger for both of them. It would be less taxing if I had at least one child placed properly in it.
So, when we finish Bigger, I want to go straight into CTC! Tamara finished Preparing just around Christmas, and for Keri I would consider it starting fresh, as though it is her first time with HOD, and checking the placement chart, CTC will be a perfect fit. Right now, I am having them do written narrations so that won't come as a surprise when CTC starts. Keri wants more writing, and I know WWTB will provide that. The balance of different language arts lessons and DITHOR on alternating days will be a welcome change for her. Tamara wants more reading, so she will have that with CTC's history books and science books. Keri loves nature and biology, so I believe the science will interest her very much.
I have to say, it's also my way of trying to help Keri get excited about homeschooling for fall-because when she sees how exciting and challenging school is when we start CTC around May, and then we stop for the summer...I have a hope she will be eager to pick up where we left off in September instead of wanting to go back to public school :)

I am excited for you! That sounds like a great plan...kind of like an appetizer before a scrumptious meal! That's the way to whet the appetite! :D

That sounds great and congrats on finishing up Bigger. We are on Unit 29 already! Looking into Preparing already has me excited about starting it, but I will try to wait until the Fall and give us all a summer break  But you never know......maybe we should start in May too, just to satisfy my curiosity for Preparing

Ok, so I went ahead and ordered a copy of the CTC manual :) It wasn't enough anymore to look at my catalog or the samples online! It's good because when I do get to order all the rest, I plan to have two copies of the manual so that each daughter can use it as their own :D In the meantime I can pore through it and see what we have to look forward to  After I submitted the order, I wished I had also ordered a copy of the student pages...lol oh well, I will have to wait some more...

Lourdes - what a good plan! :D Your thinking is making good sense here, and I'm excited for you to get your CTC guide! I think you are doing a great job of thinking through placement, and though CTC is a big (yet appropriate for ages) step up from Bigger Hearts, I do believe your dc are going to enjoy making the leap. Hope the mail is speedy - have fun looking over your guide! :D
