our Snow Treasure Adventure

We're reading Snow Treasure for our Adventure read aloud. The kids are just intoxicated with this book.

It was about 27 degrees outside yesterday and there's plenty of snow on the ground. I asked my husband if he would put some of his dumb bells on a sled so the kids could see what it was like to pull 75 pounds of "gold". After bundling up, they went outside and took turns pulling the sled around the house. It wasn't a perfect simulation, but the kids got the picture. It was more difficult than they thought as seventy-five pounds is a lot of weight to tug.

The " balloon chart" is such a fun way of recording the problems the characters in the book are facing. I would never come up with an idea like this on my own. My kids really enjoy assignments like this.

That's neat that you were able to act it out and let them see what pulling 75 pounds felt like! I bet they'll always remember that! What a great idea!

This is AWESOME!! We actually just finished this book, and everyone was so disappointed that it was over It was a GREAT book (would have been way better with a live demonstration though )! We are just loving eeeeverything about school this year!! :DTHANK YOU HOD!!!
