Post by BrooklynsMom03 » Sat Feb 05, 2011 6:59 pm

I am trying to figure out how this program works into Beyond Little Hearts...or if it even does..My daughter is turning 8 at the end of Feb and was in the 2nd grade when we pulled her out...She is just blossoming with BLHFHG....I just do not quite get how this works together...or is it too soon to add it in? Thanks so much! Beth in Idaho

Beth,

Do you have her doing the emerging readers now? If so, how is that going? DITHOR is the reading program to be used after completing the Emerging Readers. You can use it along with any of the main programs and start it after completing the emerging readers. HTH! :D

Beth,
The emerging readers http://www.heartofdakota.com/emerging-reader.php are readers that your daughter reads to you. They are scheduled with comprehension questions in the appendix of the guide.

The girls set http://www.heartofdakota.com/girls-pack.php are books that you read to your daughter for the storytime portion of the plans.

DITHOR is used after the emerging readers are completed. You would either order one of the DITHOR book packs that HOD sells http://www.heartofdakota.com/drawn-into-optional.php, or choose your own books for each genre. Then your daughter would read those books to you and complete the activities. So, if she has finished the emerging readers (or is beyond them in her reading level), you would go ahead and start DITHOR. Hope that helps!

When we finished the Emerging Reader's Set and its questions, we began Level 2/3 DITHOR with the Level 2 Book Pack. For my oldest ds, he was an avid reader and writer at that point, and he went right into it smoothly. For my middle ds, he we eased into it by spreading 1 day's reading work over 2 days. This let us read smaller bits each day, but more importantly, it let my ds ease into the writing part of the DITHOR 2/3 Student Book. I also wrote his answers for him at first. Next I wrote some of them and put some of them on the markerboard so he was responsible for writing half of them, and then finally he took it all over. Worked great! DITHOR 2/3 can be started whenever dc have finished the Emerging Reader's Set - I LOVE that part of HOD - the reading is seamless and not dependent on matching a core guide daily. HTH - and have fun with it! :D
