YEAH!!! It's working!

Post by kerby » Tue Mar 25, 2008 12:57 pm

I just started The Reading Lesson. Dd has been ready but we have had a hard time finding something that really helps it "click". I put the CD in and she watched the lesson. Then we did the lesson in the book. She already knows all her letters and their sounds so I figured we would go right along for at least some things.

Well, she has just flown right through lesson 1 - the whole thing!!! And there was no pausing or big struggles either! We waited until this afternoon and she watched Lesson 2. She did well and we started the book. Well, we ended up getting through the first 5-6 pages before she was ready to be done for today.

WOW!!!!
I think we have finally found something that will work!!! :D 8) :D

I have even started using it w/ ds. He is 4.5 and we watched the CD. I haven't sat down w/ him yet because he was ready to "run" after sitting through the cd. LOL

Thank you so much, Carrie!

K

PS - I decided to wait on starting LHFHG, I think, and just finish out what we have. That way I can use the program for next yr. :)

kerby,

That is great news!

Is it a CD or a DVD that you are using with it ( I am confused? :? ) I plan to begin this book when my daughter is five and the supplemental CD (?) sounds great.

Kerby,

Thanks so much for taking time to share your successful start with The Reading Lesson! Reading is such a key area and can be a cause of so much joy and frustration! :)

That's what makes it all the sweeter to rejoice with the successes!

Blessings,
Carrie

Go Kerby! So glad it is working for you! 8) Can I tell you something funny? My youngest is now spelling small words in front of me so I don't know what she is saying! Cracked me up. It is from The Reading Lesson.

Candice- it is the CD that is on HOD site. That is what people are talking about. It goes in the computer. :D

It is a CD that is used in your computer. Both my littles have enjoyed doing the first lesson and dd did the 2nd.

She just did some of the pages for Daddy when he got home from work and she did well. So she is retaining. We will see if she can retain it for more than a few hours tomorrow.

Alright, Kerby! So happy for you and your dc! My oldest sister uses The Reading Lesson, and she thinks it is just the best thing ever too. (She has 7 children that she's taught, teaching, or will be teaching to read, so I think she knows what she's talking about!) :)

WOW!!! I sat down w/ ds this am and he even did 2-3 pgs!!! And he hasn't had any formal teaching at all! I am psyched!!! 8)

Now, I can feel so much better about this part of teaching. I was extremely nervous about teaching my littles how to read, but not now.

WOW!!! (It's all I can say!)
