Question about spelling lists in Beyond & Bigger

I have the Beyond Guide and see that there are spelling lists #1 & #2.

From what I can tell, Bigger (I don't have the Bigger guide) has one spelling list and dictation (I see that you would choose one or the other).
Question is...Is the spelling list in Bigger the same as the Spelling List #2 found in Beyond?

Hoping I am making sense.

One more question if anyone knows...

When choosing whether to use either spelling list #1 or #2 from Beyond, can you alternate lists if needed as you are working through the units?
For example, can you use list #2 for 3 weeks and if needed, switch over to list #1 for the remainder of the weeks?
Or, is it best just pick one list and stick with it all the way?

Also, I read in an old post here that you are to use list #1 for grade 1 and list #2 for grade 2, is that true ( maybe highly recommended ?) or is it just a general guideline? I may have misinterpreted that post by the way so, wanted to clarify.

I'm not sure about the grade thing as a general rule, but we did use list one last year for 1st grade, and are using list 2 this year for 2nd grade. Both lists have honestly probably been too easy for my dd, but they are helping her feel confident about her ability to spell and it's definitely been worth it to stick it out through both of them. FWIW, we are going through it this year at about double speed, but it's definitely been worth it.

Hi Candice,

I recommend using spelling list 1 for 1st and list 2 for second grade. That's what we did and it worked perfectly!

We are doing Beyond, my daughter is in 2nd grade.
We are doing both lists at the same time.
She has 20 spelling words each week.
So far she has been sailin' thru, and it has not been too much for her.

And ... I guess since I just found out thru these posts, that Bigger's list is list 2 from Beyond thennnnn we will probably be doing dictation next year with Bigger. One decision made CHECK

I think you have to go with what your child can handle.
When we get to "meltdown town" as we call it... we back off, and take a break.
I revisit the course of the day and the week, and usually realize I am pushing her too hard.

You are the one who knows your kid the best.
