Little House Books?

Post by psreit » Wed Jan 12, 2011 1:11 pm

I noticed that 'Little House in the Big Woods' is a suggested storytime book in Beyond. I was wondering if any of the other books in the series are listed in any guides? I would like to go through them with dd at some point, but I want to figure out how and when I am going to do that.

There is another book listed for historical fiction with the Big Woods book that I would also like to read, so I may need to do one of them separately from the guide, since only one is scheduled. I'm just thinking ahead to next year. Any suggestions are appreciated.

Farmer Boy is suggested for Bigger Hearts, and I'm sure you could use the others for DITHOR. My ds loved Little House in the Big Woods, so we are going to read Little House on the Prairie between Beyond and Bigger, and do the activities from the Prairie Primer. My sister is letting me borrow her Prairie Primer.

twoxcell,
I also have the Prairie Primer. I've always been a Little House fan and would like to do some things in that when we read those books, I think the PP covers the series. Your plan to read Little House on the Prairie between guides is a good one. We don't school year round, but that would be a good thing to do in the summer. The rest of the series will have to be 'squeezed' in somewhere if they are not used in other HOD guides.

I know HOD allows for us to choose in some cases, but they have so many good choices, I know I will want to use some of those listed as well. So, I will have to figure out how to schedule the extra storytime books. Maybe we will do the Big Woods this summer and then pick another HOD choice during Beyond. We are enjoying Little Hearts, but I'm getting excited about Beyond. I have to quit looking so far ahead. :)

We started our school year in July so we will be done in April, and won't start a new HOD guide until July. My plan is to do the Prairie Primer from Mid April until the end of May. We will take off the month of June.
