I honestly learned what curds and whey were when we did this activity too.

I'd always wondered what the whey really was and how it was separated. It was a learning experience for my kiddos as well.
On a sidenote, you actually do get to make butter in one of the HOD guides, so you have that learning moment to look forward to coming up!

Ds will be so excited to hear he gets to make butter again. I hope I've not sounded critical of anything in the guide. I wouldn't ever want to be a discouragement. Even ds asked me when it didn't work for us, if it had been tried before. I told him that yes, you would have tried it and if it didn't work you wouldn't have put it in the guide.

No worries!

I enjoy your thoughtful, gracious responses and all that you contribute to the board!
