Come On Seabiscuit was our last read alouds for Beyond, and all of my kids loved the book. For those of you who are planning on reading it or have read it, did you know you can watch some of Seabiscuits races on Youtube? My kids were just shocked to know that he was a "real" horse, and that the book was "real". Then it dawned on one of my daughters and she said, "Oh, you mean Come on Seabiscuit is a biography of a horse."
My girls also enjoyed The Railway Children. There is a Masterpiece Theater version (at least I THINK it's Masterpiece Theatre) of it available on Netflix. I think it was made back in the 1980's, but it was good clean fun. Keep in mind my recommendation is also based on the fact that we don't watch tv or see many movies, so anytime the kids get to watch something it's rather special.
