We read it all in one day!

Post by countrymom » Wed Dec 29, 2010 7:40 pm

No, it was not a storytime book so I am not being bad  We read the books from the storytime lists that we do not use for our reading time (separate from school) and I had picked up "Balto and the Great Race" from the library. It was so good we couldn't put it down. We read it in two sittings and we stayed up 1/2 hour past bedtime to do it. Thanks HOD for such great reading recommendations!

Aren't the book choices that Carrie has laid out soo great???

One thing that I love is that the books Carrie chooses are "safe". They are so good that you can't put them down...but I can trust that they have been screened for questionable content by someone whose judgement I trust!! I never have to worry that I need to read ahead.

Whenever we need a good book to read, I always start by opening the HOD catalog!

That was an awesome book! :D How fun - and what a neat way to delve into those extra books as it's winter and extra reading is especially a happy thing as it can be done indoors! :D Or are you a lucky gal that lives in one of those warm states? :D

Nope, definitely a winter state. Ds did inform me that he thought he should go to bed early tonight. :)

That is a good book. Glad you enjoyed it! I remember staying up late reading many nights with my now 17 y/o. Such great memories!!

As someone new to HOD I really appreciate this. I love reading good books to my younger son, but simply do not have the time to pre-read everything for content. It's so nice to have a trusted source to get our reading choices from.

We just finished this book for storytime yesterday :D . My son said: that's a "clif-hanger" after each chapter. The chapters are short and he really wanted me to go ahead and read more, but since we were doing for school I resisted. Now he can read it on his own! :D
Great book choice indeed :!: :!:
