A Reading Question
A Reading Question
Hi everyone. My oldest dd has been a bit slow to read but is doing well with the ERs. She just completed the Bible and started Owl at Home yesterday. When she reads the ERs to me everyday she does extremely well only missing a word occasionally, her comprehension is excellent, however she doesn't read well to a group. I know she isn't quite on grade level yet. Just wondering if this is normal or if anyone else has experience with a child like this. TIA

Re: A Reading Question
I don't think my son has ever read to a group! HE just started DITHOR. He gave a few sentences "reports" during co-op last fall and sometimes he will read a book to his sisters.
That is my experience. Enjoy reading

Re: A Reading Question
Gina,
As long as she is reading well to you when she is alone doing her Emerging Readers, then you can feel good about her progress. Comfort level and success level when reading aloud to a group is honestly more affected by a child's personality than it is by his/her reading level.
In this case, how she does when reading alone to you will be the better indicator of her reading success.
Blessings,
Carrie
