my 13 yo's DITHOR conundrum

Post by deltagal » Wed Dec 08, 2010 5:42 am

Yesterday, it was time for me to give my 13 yo son another book for DITHOR. As I was looking through our books and "remembering" what I had planned for him to read he said, "Mom, don't keep giving books like you've been giving me for DITHOR." I was a bit surprised by this comment and I asked what he meant, when he said, "The books you give me to read are SO GOOD I don't want to stop reading. For my next book give me something that's not good to read and then it won't be so frustrating."

Yet, another reason to love HOD. :D

That is too funny!

My oldest often begs to do DITHOR, including theatrics...puppy dog eyes, play pouting, etc., and when it's time to read, she jumps for joy. Then I'm also known as "the best mother in the world."

Seriously, who knew learning could be so fun?

Love it!!! :D

My ds says to me a lot, "Momma, aren't you so glad it's time to read my book?" This is from a child who rarely picks up a book in his free time. He does however love to be read aloud to. He also never wants to stop reading. I asked him why he didn't read other books like this in his free time, and he told me it was because I didn't pick as good of books as these.  I really do love DITHOR, and so does my ds. :D

What a great "problem" to have! My 11 year old re-reads the DITHOR books once we've gone through them with DITHOR, becasue she wants a chance to read them "without interruption" :)

Florence,

I had to smile, as we have the same "issue" here! :D My boys are avid readers and can often be seen peeking ahead in their DITHR books too. What a great problem to have!

Blessings,
Carrie
