LHTH?

Post by twoxcell » Thu Dec 02, 2010 6:18 pm

I wanted to start my dd2 with LHTH next fall when she will be 3.5, and I was thinking of spreading it out for two years. Lately she keeps asking for her turn at school. I do not want to do much academic stuff with her yet, but I can see how she would benefit from some one on one with mommy. She will be 3 in January, and I'm wondering if I should just get it for her then, or wait until fall like I planned. Is this program better for kids closer to 4? Right now she does a lot of coloring, cutting, glittering, and bringing books to me to read to her.

I started my dd3 in LHTH the week after her third birthday and it has been a perfect fit really. We are going half speed in order to spread it over two years. What you are doing already sounds great but I don't think that you will find LHTH to be too academic for a three year old. I say go for it and give it a try and see what happens. I love it as much for the focused time spent together as for the learning. HTH

I started my 2 eldest when they were 3.5yr old. They were so ready. I plan on doing this with my 3rd child who will turn 3 in February. the plan is to do it 2yrs with her. Just using a different Bible and devotion and wkbks for the 2nd year and maybe changing up some of the activities.
I didn't do it 2x with my other 2. Different seasons and abilities and things in our life. But i did start both of them at 3.5 yrs and we finished in a year.

We started when our ds was 3 yo too, and it's been such fun! :D I was going to try to hold him off, and just couldn't anymore! I actually wrote a post about it...

Anyway, we've been having a blast with it. I'm planning on starting LHFHG half-speed for however long it fits well after we complete LHTH. I say dive in! Your little one will probably take to it like a fish takes to water. And if you're like me, you'll quit feeling like you're just filling time with the toddler, and start feeling so great about doing something really special with him (or "her" for you)! :D Those smart little cookies can tell the real "HOD McCoy" from the posers - at least all the stuff I was trying to do just didn't measure up for my little one. Enjoy it - it's a totally different kind of satisfying feeling to teach LHTH to those sweeties! I love switching between teaching RTR, BHFHG, and LHTH - all provide a different teaching experience. :D
