LHFHG - Science on U17, D4

Post by Shimmer » Fri Dec 03, 2010 11:44 am

How much water should be in the glass for the science experiment on LHFHG Unit 17, Day 4? It says a glass a water and I have about 8oz of water in the glass. I used 2 teaspoons of baking soda and vinegar as the instructions stated. The mixture does form bubbles, but not enough to lift the raisins off the bottom of the glass. Bubbles come to the top VERY slowly. I was imagining something a lot more active that the raisins would be moving around a lot. Either my expectation was wrong or I didn't do it right. :) I used distilled white vinegar so maybe a different type of vinegar would work better to cause more reaction?

i believe we just added more baking soda. that or the vinegar. but it you add more than what it says you do get a good reaction. i think others have had this issue before. Maybe it needs to revised. i used the same kind of vinegar.

Same here, I remember adding more vinegar until it bubbled a lot. If you've got enough vinegar and baking soda, the dc can keep doing it for a *long* time!
