I have two boys (9 and 10) using Bigger this year. This is our first year home from public school and I am AMAZED at what they didn't learn (or just don't remember) from grades K-4 in Public School. We have had a bit of a rocky start. I am brand new at this and have never taught before so this is quite an experience!! I am happy to say, however, that it is coming together! I can see a light at the end of the tunnel.
I am using R&S English 3 with them because they are on the older side and I thought they would be ready for it. I like it a lot, but since English 2 is the only one that is broken out in to lessons in Bigger, I am wondering if I am doing it right. We have been covering a new lesson every day. Is this pace too fast? They seem to "get" the material, but since I've never taught before I wonder how others use it. My 9 year old absolutely hates to write so we do most of it orally or on a white board.
