Loving it!

So, we have just completed out first week of HOD in Preparing and Beyond and I just wanted to sing its praises for a bit:

1) it has been an absolute joy to watch my kids get so excited each day to read their books and get involved in the stories...whether it be history, science or story time!

2) it is great to see their learning cemented as they realise how HOD ties the different subjects together and confirms something they have read in the bible or in another book.....it is easy to forget something or pass it off when you hear it once, but when this beautifully woven program knits it all together and confirms something the kids have just heard, it sticks and they believe it more!

3) the way HOD teaches the kids bible verses works! And it is fun for them. My son has NEVER been able to retain a memory verse, but watching him over the last week get out his bible in non-school times and practice his verse with actions and be ready to tell it to me at any time has been amazing!

4) My kids love this method of spelling and dictation....it does not seem like a chore to them any more!

5) It is so nice to have a program so well laid out that does all the creative hands on stuff for me! My husband is loving coming home each day and seeing the fruit of what we have done each day! Before we were just doing workbook style and it was good and the kids learned stuff, but there was never anything worthy of showing off or being excited about and being proud of!

6) all the skills my kids have started learning are so much more comprehensive than workbook style learning! I can really see how this is not just academic learning, but teaching them how to enjoy all the ways of learning and memorising and communicating and appreciating information. These are such great skills to instill at a young age!

I am sure there is much more that I will have to say in the coming months, but just wanted to share how pleased I am with our purchase and how much our kids are getting out of HOD. Thank you to Carrie & Mike and their team that make this program work so well for us....

I was nodding at each thing you listed out - we too love HOD for those reasons! We did PHFHG and Beyond a few years back and had a great time with it. This is a needed post, as many moms are leery of doing 2 guides at the same time. Your post shows this is not only possible - but you can be loving it as you do it! Thank you for sharing!
