a slightly gross learning moment

Post by Tansy » Tue Sep 28, 2010 1:04 pm

So were reading in Journeys In Time about they pilgrims voyage. Dd looks at the picture of the burial at sea and asks "Mom why did they sew him up in a bag?" So I answer it... "Shroud, respectful etc... and I added they don't want the fish to eat him."
But Mom he wouldn't float well.
Don't worry they put heavy cannon balls at the feet inside the bag to make him sink.
Mom why?
So he doesn't float away.
Why do they need that? Wait do dead people fart?
No not really Honi they are dead, but your right the bacteria inside our bodies is still living even if we die...
Oh.... he needs those weights cause the farts will blow him up like a balloon, and the gas inside will make him float.
Mom why are you laughing? Mom, Mom what is so funny?
