Is the book "The Twenty One Balloons" an adventure?

Post by Heart_Mom » Tue Sep 14, 2010 11:25 am

We're doing BLHFHG with my 6 and 9 year olds, and I'm trying to choose our adventure book for storytime. I saw this book described as an adventure and a fantasy, so would it be okay to use it for the adventure section?

Thank you!
Blessings,
Elisabeth

Hi Heart Mom. Yes, I would think it is fine to use The Twenty One Balloons as an adventure. It has been a long time since we read it, but if it is listed as an adventure and fantasy, then I think you will be fine using it for either genre. Happy reading!

Yes. It even lists that book as an option in the back of the Beyond guide. :) We are in the same place and we chose Sword in the Tree...but 21 Balloons is one my older son will read later, so we dedcided to wait on that one.

Thanks! I forgot that there are suggestions in the back of the guide.

I'll check them out, but I think we'll stick with "The Twenty-One Balloons" since my daughter has already read "The Sword in the Tree" on her own.

Thanks very much, ladies!!!
Blessings,
Elisabeth

We loved that book (in fact it is in terrible condition for the "love" it's had year after year being read, and also due to being left outside on the play equipment in a rainstorm  ); so, yes, it is a great adventure! :D Some of the genres overlap, and some books can be categorized as one or the other. If they fit the general genre guidelines, they're fine, and HOD does a good job of letting us know where books fit too. :D Enjoy!
